Cupping is nothing new, in fact, it has been used by the Egyptians since 1500 BC!
You may have seen aesthetic images on your Instagram or Facebook feed of athletes and health-conscious people raving about its benefits. Cupping is nothing new, in fact, it has been used by the Egyptians since 1500 BC!
So how does it work?
Cupping works by creating “negative pressure” inside of a glass cup pressed on the skin. It differentiates from a massage in that rather than the muscle fibers being pushed down into the body, they are uplifted and the tension is held for a couple of minutes.
It has been proven to alleviate pain from physical activity, inflammation, increases blood flow, and loosens up tightened muscles, and even strengthen your immunity!- no more colds & sniffles during the winter months!
Athletes who are heavy lifters, runners, cyclists, and yogis all can benefit from this stimulating massage. By increasing blood flow and decreasing stagnated blood, recovery time can be shortened and soreness can be minimized. By combining this treatment with stretching, hydration, and proper nutrition, one can truly reap the benefits of this ancient form of holistic medicine.
So what if you’re not a powerlifter or a yogi? Cupping can still benefit you!
Muscles tighten and create knots when there is a strain, toxins in the body, and stress.
If you’re experiencing a lot of stress in life or are exposed to the myriad of toxins in your day-to-day living, cupping relieves that tension and aids your body in the detoxification process. Cellulite can also be diminished with regular cupping and aid in toning loose skin.
The suction separates and loosens the muscle fibers, creating more blood flow to the site. This flow of blood can flush out toxins that have been trapped in that area thus creating the feeling of loosened muscles and an increase in immunity.
